'The Revenge of Jedikiah' (3 Parts) by Roger Price |

Whilst opening a sarcophagus in an Egyptian tomb, archaeologist Professor Johnston falls unconscious, and her form is taken on by the mummy inside. Also on the dig is Professor Cawston, who is worried when Johnston disappears, and contacts the Tomorrow People; he, John and Elizabeth return to the pyramid. Meanwhile, a fake version of Stephen appears on ‘Opportunity Knocks’ with Mustaf, a magic act. ‘Stephen’ is in fact the shape-changing Jedikiah. At the pyramid, John confirms that the structure was built by the Kulthan, and they discover the body of Professor Johnston. Stephen and Tyso jaunt to the television studio where the next programme is being recorded, and are joined by Tricia Conway. John realises that Professor Johnson has been replaced by a shape-changer, held in suspended animation in the tomb. Ambassador Timus Irnok Mosta arrives at the Lab with information that the Kulthan rescued Jedikiah from the surface of Mercury. At the studios, Tricia mistakes Jedikiah for Stephen, and persuades him to go to the Experimental Weapons Establishment; but when they arrive, Jedikiah kills the Colonel, knocks Tricia out and takes on her form. John visits Mustaf, but ‘Tricia’ arrives and places the magician in protective custody. ‘Tricia’ visits Cawston, telling him that Stephen has killed Colonel Masters. Cawston contacts the Tomorrow People, but is captured by ‘Tricia’, who takes on his form, while he is taken to the headquarters. Here the real Tricia realises what has happened, and arranges for Mustaf to be brought to her. Stephen and Tyso take refuge in Tyso's caravan, but when the gypsy’s sister Evergreen goes into town, she is found by Jedikiah, who takes on her form. Professor Cawston discovers that his office has been ransacked and his car stolen; he leaves for Tyso's caravan. John and Elizabeth jaunt to the Experimental Weapons Establishment, but are accidentally shot by a guard. They are placed on life support machines. While Tyso goes off into the woods, he is followed by Jedikiah. Cawston and his driver, Sergeant Evans, find the Professor’s abandoned car, with Evergreen tied-up in the boot. She tells them that Stephen and Tyso are at the caravan, but when they all arrive there, they realise that either of Stephen and Tyso could be Jedikiah in disguise. While Sergeant Evans returns to the Professor's car, Tricia contacts Stephen and Tyso telepathically, proving that they are ‘real’. Cawston goes to his car to use his car phone, and Jedikiah takes Sergeant Evans' form. Cawston, Stephen, Tyso, Evergreen and ‘Evans’ go to the Experimental Weapons Establishment, but Tricia will not allow them to help John and Elizabeth as any of them could be Jedikiah. Tikno arrives at the Lab, and is informed of events by Tim. Tikno arrives at the Weapons Establishment, but Tricia thinks he is Jedikiah and orders him shot. Jedikiah kidnaps Stephen and Tyso, hypnotising Stephen into taking them to the Lab. Cawston contacts Tim via a secret phone number and is warned that Jedikiah, now in his original shape, has placed silencer bands on Stephen and Tyso. Cawston and Tricia are unable to find Tikno’s body. In order to see if John and Elizabeth are dead, Jedikiah removes Stephen's silencer band; but Tricia hear Stephen’s call, and begins to break-out. She jaunts to the Lab, and attempts to restore Tim, who manages to call Timus before Jedikiah deactivates him again. Timus arrives and tells Jedikiah that the Tomorrow People have been granted honorary membership of the Galactic Federation, and that they will leave Earth. He heals John and Elizabeth, and changes Jedikiah into a human, forcing him to live as a beggar. The Tomorrow People leave the Earth…
